Single Speyside Malt Whisky, 12 Jahre gereift, 43% Vol.

Knockando 12 Years gehört zu den klassischen Speyside Malt Whiskys. Die Besonderheit des Knockando ist die Tatsache, dass jede Flasche nur einen einzigen Jahrgang enthält. Deshalb ist auch auf jeder Knockando Flasche das Datum der Destillation vermerkt. Darüber hinaus sind die 12 Jahre Lagerzeit nicht immer ganz korrekt, da der Brennmeister Innes Shaw zwischen 12 und 15 Jahren abfüllt, um den Punkt der optimalen Reife zu treffen. Der Knockando 12 Years zeichnet sich durch einen leichten Körper aus, der wunderbar einfach mit viel Freude zu genießen ist.

Knockando
knockando whisky - markenseite sorten-übersichtDie schottische Brennerei Knockando ist unter Kennern ein echter Geheimtipp. Und das nicht nur aufgrund des sehr guten Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnisses seiner Single Malt Whiskys. Gegründet wurde die Destillerie im Jahr 1898 von John Thompson. Die Produktion wurde ein Jahr später aufgenommen. Der Name Knockando kommt aus dem Gälischen, bedeutet so viel wie "Kleiner schwarzer Hügel" und ist eine Hommage an die Landschaft mit ihren grünen Hügeln, zwischen denen sich die schottische Brennerei befindet. Die Anlage wurde damals vom berühmten Whisky-Architekten Charles Doig entworfen.
Der Unterschied zu anderen Brennereien ist, das der Whisky bei Knockando meist nicht eingefärbt wird. Zum Kernsortiment der Schotten gehört ein 12-, ein 15-, ein 18,-, ein 21- sowie ein 25-Jähriger. Jedes Jahr werden neue Abfüllungen veröffentlicht. Eine weitere Besonderheit, die es nur bei der traditionsreichen Brennerei gibt: Auf der Flasche wird immer der Jahrgang der Destillation angegeben. Die Brennerei Knockando verwendet für die Reifung Eichen- und Sherry-Fässer. Dabei wird darauf geachtet, dass sie keine dominanten Einfluss auf den Malt haben.
